Symantec VIP product team has announced deprecation plan for Trusted Device functionality from Symantec VIP.

Please read this advisory announcement and follow the instructions to mitigate any impact to the end users.

    What is happening:

As previously announced, the Trusted Device plugin is reaching its end of life. On April 30, 2023, the option to enable Trusted Device was disabled, although Trusted Device continued to function for customers that had already enabled it.

On May 1, 2025, the Trusted Device functionality will be completely disabled for all the VIP customers.

    What you should do:

The Symantec VIP product offers Device Fingerprint as part of the Remembered Device functionality. Device Fingerprint is a browser-based feature that can be enabled as an alternative to the Trusted Device feature. If you enable Device Fingerprint, the Remembered Device policy continues to work, reducing your end users' requirements for multi-factor authentication.

If you do not choose to use the Device Fingerprint feature, your end users will be prompted for multi-factor authentication after Trusted Device has been deprecated.
