I can't imagine what Symantec is thinking. By breaking SEPSBE into two separate products, they are apparently intentionally, subjecting small organizations to a HUGE price increase.

Last year we paid $335 for 22 seats in SEPSBE12. This year we're going to need to buy SEP and SMSMSE as separate products, and the same amount of coverage is going to cost $1507!!!

Symantec is nuts. Do they really want to just blow off this segment of the market? I know I'm going to be looking elsewhwere for my clients, though I've been with Symantec for decades. There are other choices out there, what do you like as options?

You're better off posting this in a forum like spiceworks for best visibility. These forums are Symantec focused so you may not get an optimal response here. Spiceworks will have some great responses.

    Hi,

Thank you for posting your query on Symantec community. We would love to assist you here as well.

Symantec Mail Security and Symantec Endpoint Protection are two different products with separate licensing.

Probably this time they might have charged for entire suite

Make sure they aren't charging you for entire protection suite.

The products included within the Protection Suite are:

    • Endpoint Protection
    • Mail Security for Microsoft Exchange
    • Messaging Gateway
    • Web Gateway

However call at our global number @ 1-877-294-525 or chat with Sales team online:

Feel free to PM if need any assistance with Symantec products.

I just got off phone with Symantec sales. They confirmed the pricing I have received is correct and this is the least expensive option.

Last year: Symantec Protection Suite Small Business Edition = $330

This year: cheapest option competitive upgrade to SEP & SMSMSE = $1441

436% increase! Symantec obviously doesnt want small business clients! Bye, bye now...

Sorry to know & as a product support engineer we have no control over the product pricing but i tried my best to involve our marketing team to find out more information on this. Thanks!

Shortly you will have a newer and better option to replace your older (now discontinued) product.

However, it is no longer being targeted for the SMB market, this is strictly Enterprise - but the pricing may be more in line with what you were used to.

For comparison, here's my company's experience with the price difference moving from:

Symantec Protection Suite SBE 4.0 (EOL)  - $24.08CAD/bundled seat renewal price (paid Nov 2014)

(includes SEPSBE12, Mail Security for MS Exchange 7.5, and Symantec System Recovery Desktop Ed 2013 R2)

    To

    SEP Cloud, Mail Security for MS Exchange 7.5, and Veritas System Recovery Desktop Ed 2013 R2 - $19.99 + $19.99 + $14.99 = $54.97 CAD/seat total (paid Nov 2015)

That's 228% compared with the previous year's (bundled) renewal cost - just over double.

I was initially looking at other venders products as I compared prices on the Symantec/Veritas renewals with different resellers....but in the end the best price I could find was as increase that was just tolerable....for now.
