vmware probe - Rename of VirtualCenter-Host (Resource)

Hi!

Our VMware-Admins are in the process of updating our ESX-Cluster from 7.x to 8.x

In the same step, they are going to rename the Virtual-Center host, so that the UIM VMware probe should not access e.g. vc7.domain.local, but vc.domain.local after their update.

As I notice, I can not simply rename the resource in the probe-gui, I had a glimpse into the raw-config, well "vc7.domain.local" is referenced there at various points.

How can I manage that transition, without getting all our hunderets of VM-entities as dupplicate in our uim-db?

I fear if i delete the resource the hosts (guests and VM-Server) will be deleted in the inventory, otherwise, the IP of the VirtualCenter will be kept the same, so simply add a resource with the new name? Thats sounds for me like a lot of dupplicates.

Any advice and/or solution is welcomed.

cheers
Matthias
