We are updating AutoSys jobs, adding a Group, Must Start By and Notification fields to our jobs using JIL text files. Should we restrict the running of JIL to our Maintenance period, when we have nearly no jobs running? Or can we run these JIL scripts at anytime? I am concerned updating the database with the JIL may disrupt other AutoSys activities, such as running jobs and there may be adverse effects.

I have a similar question regarding adding or updating a notification template - can this be done at anytime without adverse effect?

Hi Carrie,

Generally speaking, you can updated your JIL definitions anytime and it shouldn't have any adverse affect on the running jobs. If you are updating a job and it is running whilst you are updating, it will make the update but the effects of the JIL won't take until the next scheduled or forced run.

It's the same with the notification templates.

Hope that helps!

Thanks
