External Usergroup for "authorization"

Harvest can authenticate users against LDAP. There are also external usergroups in LDAP mentioned.

Can I use these external usergroups not only for authentification (login), but for authorization with "HARUSERGROUP"?

We manage authorization externally, so we have a process established which synchronizes the external source with Harvest internal data using 'husrmgr'. If this can be done with LDAP that would be a great help.
