Custom Chart from the App Catalog

Hello, 

I am building a dashboard to show the number of capabilities in our project based on certain Tags.  The Custom Chart app is great but it is missing one thing that would allow me to keep the data in Rally instead of having to export it.

My App Settings are:

I am also specifying a Query for further refinement.

Because I am Aggregating by 'Tags' I would like the ability to control which Tags are displayed in the Chart.  Currently I see columns for each Tag and it is creating a lot of noise on the chart.  The only option I am currently seeing is to export the data into Excel or Sheets and do my charting from there.

Could this App be enhanced to provide this additional level of control?

Hi @Andrew Badgley, 

I can see the use case for needing to limit the categories to a smaller subset when displaying the chart, particularly in the case of something like Tags or Owners.  It is unlikely that the Custom Chart App would be updated to accommodate this as the apps are built on older technology. 

As we are actively building and enhancing our new Custom Views feature, I would recommend submitting this feedback for the Custom Bar/Column Chart widget.  

In the meantime, you can access the custom chart app code in the public RallyCommunity github organization and tweak it to accommodate your scenario.  If you did this, you would need to install the app as a Custom HTML App (rather than the Custom Chart from the app catalog).

Thanks Kristy.  I appreciate your timely feedback.  I'll look into the Custom Views feature.  I'm currently using a Custom Page.  Is a Custom View different?
