I have a question about Data Retention Period (days) - Transformed Tables as described by "Configure DataRetention"'s "DataRetentionPeriod(days)-TransformedTables".
https://techdocs.broadcom.com/us/en/ca-enterprise-software/it-operations-management/spectrum/22-2/installing-and-upgrading/install-report-manager/configure-data-retention.html

1. About archiving and purging
I think that the archiving and purging processes are executed as either (a) or (b).
Please tell me which of (a) or (b) is correct.
If neither (a) nor (b) is correct, please tell me the correct process.
     (a) Data archiving and purging will be performed daily at 12:30 a.m.
Data that has exceeded its retention period will be purged and other data will be archived.
     (b) Data archiving and purging are performed every number of days set in the retention period.
For example, if the retention period is 10 days, archive the data every day and purge (clear) all the data at 12:30 a.m. every 10 days,
such as August 1, August 11, and August 21.

2. Processing when the retention period is changed
(1) When the data retention period is shortened
[Example] Processing when the storage period is changed from 90 days to 10 days
Please tell me which of (a) or (b) is correct.
If neither (a) nor (b) is correct, please tell me the correct process.
     (a) If (a) of "1." is correct, all data older than 10 days will be purged and data within 10 days will be archived.
     (b) If (b) of "1." is correct, all data will be purged and new data archiving will begin.

(2) If the data retention period is changed to a longer period.
[Example] Processing when the retention period is changed from 10 days to 90 days
Please tell me which of (a) or (b) is correct.
If neither (a) nor (b) is correct, please tell me the correct process.
     (a) If (a) in "1." is correct, data will only be archived for the first 80 days (90 days - 10 days), and data will also be purged after 80 days.
     (b) If (b) in "1." is correct, all data will be purged and new data will archive being .

Hi Marubun,

See my answers:

Data Retention Period - Transformed Tables (all reporting database tables, except the event table)

Data Retention Period - Event table (largest table in the reporting database)

We have a dedicated retention period for the even table because it is the largest table, hence you may want a shorter retention period.

In the Archive Expert you can find the table sizes.

1. About archiving and purging

If you set the Data Retention Policy to Purge, SRM will purge the old data. If you set the Data Retention Policy to Archive, SRM will archive the old data.

If the Data Retention Period is set to 10 days, SRM will purge (or archive) any data older than 10 days.

It occurs after midnight (~12:30 am) every day.

2. Processing when the retention period is changed

Processing when the storage period is changed from 90 days to 10 days

The SRM will either purge or archive (depending on the Data Retention Policy) data older than 10 days.

3. If the data retention period is changed to a longer period.

Processing when the retention period is changed from 10 days to 90 days

The SRM will either purge or archive (depending on the Data Retention Policy) data older than 90 days.

Hope I have clarified your doubts.

Thanks,
Silvio
