hennie facebook.jpgHennie Hermans began his career with CA Technologies in January of 1989 in the Netherlands. Before CA, Hennie worked as mainframe operator at a government department after college, where he gained experience as a COBOL and system programmer. After 12 years, that company was acquired by another, and he moved on to work for CA where he now supports Mainframe products and is the frontline engineer.

Hennie has worked with countless products and systems, but says what has changed the most over the years is the people.

“When I started at CA we had seven local support people only doing 10-20 products of the mainframe. We also had some pre-sales and engineers to visit clients, a group of about 40-50 people locally. Now we only have three people locally and the rest in scattered through EMEA. In total, now the staff is 40 people in EMEA for the mainframe products. It’s very nice to work with this mixture of people throughout EMEA. And we also now work closely with the U.S. staff.”

Not only has CA grown but so has Hennie. The diversity of the products enables him to switch from one to another, and learn about many different areas of support. With the increase in resources for employees combined with the general company growth, CA support teams have advanced in more ways than one.

"My team is great. We work as a team to please the clients and solve their cases as soon as possible to prevent further delays, or further inconvenience. And CA works globally, there are a lot of other cultures to work with, and allow us to meet other people mostly via phone.”

Another way Hennie connects with others globally is through CA Communities and Knowledge Base articles. With these tools, his team can share valuable product experience with customers.

“Knowledge Base articles add something extra to the information about the products. Not everything is specifically addressed in the manuals and doesn’t always fit in a proper chapter. The “Do’s & Don’ts” if you will."

Outside of exploring the world of support technology, Hennie also enjoys traveling the world. He regularly vacations with his family, and loves traveling to the United States. He also enjoys riding his motorbike from time to time, and playing casual sports like soccer.
