I saw ID column of "CMN_CURRENCIES" table starts with 1, generally we see 5 million numbers, so Is it Currencies table that starts with when the CA PPM system is set-up?

Also wanted to know about the Financial Organizational Structure under the Set-up, image added, like the Functional/Business definition of Currencies,Entity, Work in progress class and others.

    Thanks :)

Yes Currencies do start with ID 1, are you seeing any issues. More on the entity setup you can refer to our document https://techdocs.broadcom.com/content/broadcom/techdocs/us/en/ca-enterprise-software/business-management/clarity-project-and-portfolio-management-ppm-on-premise/15-8-1/Using-Classic-Clarity-PPM/financial-management/set-up-a-financial-entity.html

Wondering at this one as well...
Currencies is not the only table where the first internal ID is 1 as the ID's of the tables are not related. The ID's are table specific and do not indicate the sequence of how the system has been set up.
Does it matter to the end user or the administrator in which sequence the tables were set up?

Then which table of clarity would be triggered first and data is loaded?

    Just curious to know. :)

So is it during creation and setup you are thinking as that is when the ID's are created?

That is hard to say nowadays as there is hardly ever an empty Clarity database. Either you are upgrading your system which already has a database or you are creating anew one and then you restore the dumb that comes with the installation package. A user cannot easily say which table is created. You could go through all the tables and look at the created time of the records. That would given you an indication. It was easier when you actually created an empty database during fresh installation. The install.log would tell that.

If you are after the most frequently used tables that is what are the tables that are used when the user does something or anything. That used to be the rights table. No matter where to the user wants to go the system first check if he or she has the rights to go there and what data the user is allowed to see.

A similar question was asked on the Niku forum. That is the forum before CA time.

Does anybody have a list of most frequently used tables in Clarity 7.02 ?

thanks
abhay
What is most frequently used could be the views for checking rigths and consequently the user and data OBS links.

Martti K.
I've done a lot of custom reporting for clients, and these are the most common tables used:

SRM_PROJECTS
PRJ_PROJECTS
PAC_MNT_PROJECTS
ODF_CA_PROJECTS
SRM_RESOURCES
PRJ_RESOURCES
PAC_MNT_RESOURCES
ODF_CA_RESOURCES
CMN_SEC_USERS
PRTASK
PRASSIGNMENT
PRTEAM
PRTIMESHEET
PRTIMEPERIOD
PRTIMEENTRY
PRTYPECODE
PRCHARGECODE
PRJ_BLB_SLICES

If you're looking into a specific area (like budgeting or rate matrices), I can point you to the more common tables there as well.
and the lookup and captions tables.
Yes, those would be the tables where the most frequently used data for project management is. You might want to ad PRJ_BLB_SLICEQUESTS and PRTEAM.

If you are looking after the most frequenly used tables for indices and stats for system performance, there are others.
Put a trace on and you can see that.
Every time any user clicks anything the system checks whether the user has rights to tha functionality and how the rights are defined in the system automatic, groups, global, instance or OBS then it checks the rights for data in the same manner.

In a small system (less than 1000 users) the default background jobs also may occur relatively often compared to user activities especially if they are set at defaults to run 24 7 365.

Martti K.

Does that satisfy any of you quriosity?
