    Hello team

We have Clarity PPM 15.6 with Jaspersoft 7.1 and Tomcat 8.5.30 on premise.

With Clarity 15.8.1, Jaspersoft is 7.1 (same version) but with Apache Tomcat 8.5.53.

What is the best approach here to only upgrade apache tomcat in a Jasper server?:

1 - Copy & paste from the OLD webapps\<jasperwebcontext> into the NEW Apache folder?
2 - Re install Jasper from scratch in that server using the apache 8.5.53?
    3 - Other approach?

    Thanks

    Best Regards!!

Not answering your question, but just wondering again...

Is that different from upgrading tomcat in Clarity?
I have always just unzipped the tomcat archive to d:\tomcat
When it is an upgrade renamed that to tomcat_old and unzipped the new version to d:\tomcat
Simple and worked for me this far.

    Hi Martti.

    Thanks for your msg.

The approach here is only for Jaspersoft. For PPM 15.6, 15.7, 15.8 etc, Jasper is the same version (apparently, the 7.1)  but with differents tomcats versions. How can you upgrade jasper in this case where only the tomcat is different?.

Of course you can re install (Point 2 from my approach) but i mean in something more faster like point 1 (copy and paste). Will possible??

    Hi Mario,

If you are not going to upgrade the Jasper version, then there should not be necessary to modify its Tomcat version.

Aren't you probably upgrading Jasper from 7.1 to 7.1.3?

    Gracias Raul

But imagine, such as,  in case your IT Team said that you need to upgrade your tomcat version for a vulnerability......

Or you are in a upgrade to 15.8 (from 15.6 or 15.6.1) and Jasper is the same version........... but different tomcats

    De nada Mario,

To avoid problems, follow the instructions on the guide:

    https://techdocs.broadcom.com/content/broadcom/techdocs/us/en/ca-enterprise-software/business-management/clarity-project-and-portfolio-management-ppm-on-premise/15-7-1/installing-and-upgrading/upgrade-clarity-ppm/upgrade-jaspersoft-and-migrate-advanced-reporting-content.html

    ***
As an on-premise customer, if you decide to upgrade, you must use the Clarity Jaspersoft installer, a customized wrapper written on top of the original third-party installer. Only the CA installer (a ZIP archive you can download) can be used to install Jaspersoft and integrate it with Clarity for reporting.

    Yes, Mario

And from 7.1 to 7.1.3 it is the same.

Although Jaspersoft 7.1.3 is a maintenance update and 7.1 represents a new release, and neither are labeled
    patches
, their upgrade steps are relatively easy, similar to a patch. You can download 7.1.3 and install or upgrade much like a patch.

This full process is documented on the upgrade process:

    Hi Mario,

Great question and here are the steps you should follow

    Pre-Requisite

    1. Back up the Jaspersoft installation folder

Steps to upgrade Tomcat with Jaspersoft

    1. Logged in as admin in to the Jaspersoft application server
    2. Downloaded the .zip version of Apache Tomcat 8.5.53
    3. Unzipped and copied the reportservice folder from 8.5.xx to 8.5.53 webapps folder.
    4. Compare 8.5.xx with 8.5.53 and see if any jar files are missing in 8.5.53, if yes please copy
    5. Started the tomcat service.
    6. Tried opening http://localhost:8080/reportservice and it should come up with login screen
    7. Ran "admin jaspersoft syncPPMContext -userName superuser -password superuser"
    8. Ran create and update jasper users job.
    9. Tried running one report and it should return results.
