    Level Set PTF 12.0.02 (LU16042) for XCOM Data Transport for z/OS is now available

    The following list summarizes the features that are delivered by applying the Level Set PTF.

    Note: For more information about these features, see Level Set PTF 12.0.02 in the XCOM Data Transport for z/OS documentation.

    • XCOM Cloud Services
      The new XCOM Cloud Services integrate with Amazon Simple Storage Service (Amazon S3), enabling you to transfer data to and from S3-compatible cloud providers. Use the batch interface in XCOM Data Transport       for z/OS to send data sets or data set members to the cloud as objects.

    • Feature Registration Service Integration
      XCOM Data Transport for z/OS is now integrated with the Feature Registration Service (FRS) that is provided by the Common Components and Services
       (CCS). The FRS registers Broadcom mainframe products with the IBM Function Registry for z/OS. This registry provides a simple way for systems programmers to gather information about their product installations.

    • New Global PACK Parameter
      A new global PACK parameter is now provided. If you do not specify a PACK option for a transfer, the global PACK value is used for that transfer. By default, the global PACK parameter is set to PACK=LENGTH to accommodate the global MAXPACK default of 31 KB. Record packing reduces the amount of CPU resources that are required to transfer data.

    • New PTF Tracking Element
      This PTF enables you to use a feature in SYSVIEW       called Product PTF Analysis. This feature lets you determine what PTFs and APARs are applied to XCOM Data Transport for z/OS, compare the PTFs that have been applied on each LPAR, and more.

    An important clarification:

    The XCOM Cloud Services enhancement requires specific IBM fixes. You must apply those fixes before you apply this Level Set PTF, regardless of whether you plan to use the XCOM Cloud Services. The list of IBM fixes is provided in KD 387086.
