  • 1.  Upgrade Gen 8.6 CSE Oracle Database on Unix server

I need to upgrade the 8.6 CSE Oracle DB on a Unix Server from 12C to 19C.   Is it as simple as a DBA going in and upgrading the database in place or do other things need to be done in addition to that ?

    Hi @Lauren Holden
There was an 8.6 PTF for the Windows CSE to support Oracle 19c (CSN86204/SS14886 now rolled into WKS86300/LU06327), but there was no change required for Unix platforms.
So upgrading Oracle is all that should be needed.
NOTE: If the Unix platform is AIX then the CSE is 32-bit and the Oracle 19c 32-bit client is also needed by the CSE software (the Oracle client). If it is HP-UX then the CSE is 64-bit and the 64-bit Oracle 19c client is needed by the CSE software (the Oracle client).  See Prerequisites for CSE Configuration section "Create Oracle CSE Database"

    Hope that helps

    Regards

    Lynn
