  • 1.  Upgrade and full repair failed

    The upgrade to 8.5 RU4 from RU3 failed with this error seen from the logs.
     
    ConfigureNS - task_Completed(): Configuration Task installation Symantec Management Agent Install - UNIX, Linux and Mac... Failed: Failed to install the product. Check the log for more details.
     
    Error during Configure, status: Error, ex: Symantec.Installation.ConfigTaskException: Failed to install product. Check the log for details..
     
    Tried repairing but it was stuck at the same error.
     
    Checked altiris_clientagent_8_5_ru4_x64.msi_Install.log.
    MSI (s) (B4:18) [19:15:10:108]: Windows Installer installed the product from Product Name: Symantec Management Agent for UNIX, Linux and Mac 8.5. Product Version: 8.5.5709.0. Product Language: 1033. Manufacturer: Symantec. Installation success or error status: 0.
     
    Then there is altiris_clientagent_8_5_ru4_x64.msi_uninstall.log. This is the only file in Uninstall.
    MSI (s) (74:2C) [19:16:41:558]: Windows Installer uninstalled the product from Product Name: Symantec Management Agent for UNIX, Linux and Mac 8.5. Product Version: 8.5.5709.0. Product Language: 1033. Manufacturer: Symantec. Installation success or error status: 0.
     
    In partial installs in SIM are showing 8.5 RU3. Not sure if running full repair again will reinstall RU3.
    Is there any way to run this upgrade successfully? How to fix the ULM agent installation configuration Task error?

    Hello. I had a similar experience.
    This upgrades the DB structure to prepare for 8.6 by installing a new TelemetryPatch.msi when upgrading 8.5 RU4.
    However, when you attempt to upgrade to 8.5 RU4, if you use the latest version of the SIM, you will check the version of the TelemetryPatch.msi file when you upgrade 8.5 RU4, but the upgrade will stop because you cannot identify the version of TelemetryPatch.msi that the latest SIM has.
    My solution is to download and install SIM 8.6.1045 from another computer. Then you have the TelemetryPatch.msi file in the installed folder. Copy this msi file into the Symantec Installation Manager folder on the server you want to upgrade. (Overwrite)
    Then try to upgrade again.
