  • 1.  Timeout Error During ALC Installation

    Posted Jul 16, 2025 12:47 PM

    Hi all,
I'm trying to install Application Lifecycle Conductor on a RHEL 8 server.
During the setup phase where it connects to the Oracle DB, I get a timeout error:
Error: [ALC-DB-CONNECT] Timeout while attempting to connect to database
    Oracle 19c running locally
    Ports are open
    Verified DB credentials manually
Any ideas what might be causing this?

    Hi Leon,

Just a note that Application Lifecycle Conductor went end of life on January 31, 2023 (Application Lifecycle Conductor End of Service).

Please let us know what you are trying to achieve and we can connect you with alternatives.

    Thanks,

    Thanks for the reply!

I didn't realize that Application Lifecycle Conductor had reached end of life. I was planning to use ALC to manage deployment and lifecycle of internal corporate applications, specifically for tracking application metadata and versions, and coordinating deployments with our Oracle 19c database on RHEL servers. We're now looking for a supported alternative that offers similar functionality. Could you recommend any current tools that might be a good fit?

    Hi Leon,

What you are describing sounds like a Configuration Management Database (CMDB).  These are typically associated with your IT Service Management solution.  The tool that might be the best fit would like be associated with whatever you use now to manage change controls and issues as it's usually just one function that's part of an entire suite of functions.  Hope that helps!
