Hello SYSVIEW community!
On behalf of the SYSVIEW product team, we are pleased to announce that SYSVIEW Base product and several components contain enhanced functionality and enhanced user experience. The enhancements are delivered to you in Feature PTF LU15601.
The following list summarizes the enhancements that this PTF delivers.
Validated Boot for z/OS Support
SYSVIEW now provides support for Validated Boot for z/OS. Validated Boot for z/OS uses digital signatures to verify the integrity and authenticity of the initial program load (IPL) data at startup, ensuring it is untampered and from a trusted source.
Enhanced Threshold Exception Processing
SYSVIEW now lets you evaluate threshold exceptions on every data collection cycle, which allows for more timely and proactive management of performance issues. This enhancement helps you quickly identify and address any anomalies.
Enhanced MVS Option
New Metrics for Capacity and Job Performance
This enhancement introduces several new metrics that relate to capacity and job performance. SYSVIEW now lets you monitor the number of getmains or storage allocations at the address space level, which provides you with deeper insights into memory usage and performance. Also, the ability to measure Java CPU time offers you a clearer view of Java application performance and resource consumption.
Enhanced Workload Management (WLM) Commands
SYSVIEW Workload Management (WLM) commands were enhanced. The Type field now supports up to 20 characters and aligns with the data that displays in the Type field of the WMGROUPS and WMSUBSYS commands. This update lets you identify whether a WLM subsystem belongs to a group or operates independently. Also, you can now expand the group to view the individual qualifiers, which offers greater insight into the subsystem rules definitions.
Enhanced IMS Option
The IMS Option can now deliver real-time transaction rates for the IMS region, independent of sampling intervals. This improvement enhances oversight and enables faster responses to issues.
Enhanced Event Capture Option
The SMFLOG formatting module was enhanced to facilitate generating reports for the SMF type 92, subtypes 16 and 17, which pertain to USS File System Activity records. Also, the SMF type 74, subtype 4, which addresses Coupling Facility Activity records, now includes newly incorporated fields.
Important! Only the Validated Boot for z/OS enhancement applies to SYSVIEW Essentials configurations of SYSVIEW Performance Management.
