Hello SYSVIEW community!
On behalf of the SYSVIEW product team, we are pleased to announce that the SYSVIEW Option for IBM MQ is enhanced. The enhancements include new shared resource monitoring of queue depth for MQ queues in queue sharing groups, and cross-system support for several existing SYSVIEW MQ commands. The enhancements are delivered in Feature PTF LU16308.
What is MQ Shared Resource Monitoring?
Previously, SYSVIEW monitored MQ shared queues at only the queue manager level. Because shared queues are shared between all queue managers in a queue sharing group, this behavior occasionally led to redundant data collection thresholds and alerts for metrics that were shared amongst the queue sharing group.
SYSVIEW data collection is enhanced to support monitoring of shared resources. A shared resource is a resource that is not confined to a single z/OS system but shared across multiple systems at either the sysplex or the hardware level. This PTF provides support for monitoring shared resources for MQ queues in queue sharing groups, specifically queue depth.
To provide this capability, the SYSVIEW Option for IBM MQ contains new metrics, new parmlib member options, and new commands. For a detailed description of what's new, see New Features in the SYSVIEW documentation.
Enhanced SYSVIEW MQ Commands
Several SYSVIEW MQ commands now provide support for displaying data that is gathered from remote systems. We commonly refer to this capability as "cross-system mode." For a list of the enhanced commands, see New Features in the SYSVIEW documentation.
NOTE: The enhancements that PTF LU16308 delivers do not apply to SYSVIEW Essentials configurations of SYSVIEW Performance Management.
We value your business and thank you for using SYSVIEW!
