    Hi fellow Harvesters,

One of my users recently started using WorkAreas after I showed him the benefits. They develop in an external tool (Oracle APEX), do an export of all the database scripts, then want to add the changed database objects (sql scripts) back to Harvest. The problem is that the Synchronizer view shows ALL of the files as changed. If you double-click on one of them, the Text Compare tool shows no differences. This is obviously a problem, because if you have 20 000 items in the project, you only want to see the ones that have changed in order to check them out and update in the Harvest Repository. I can't find a setting that will ignore whitespace when performing the synchronize action.

I've set up a simple process to simulate it and confirmed this behaviour:

    1. Check out a text file for update
    2. Open the file in a text editor
    3. Save the file without making changes
    4. Confirm the modified date changed
    5. Refresh the Synchronizer view. The file is not listed as an outgoing change

Second check - Make an actual change, and change it back again:

    1. Check out the text file
    2. Open it in a text editor
    3. Add one character and save the file
    4. Refresh the Synchronizer View
    5. The file is listed as an outgoing change (correctly)
    6. Open the file in the editor
    7. Remove the added character and save
    8. Refresh the Synchronizer View
    9. The file is still listed as an outgoing change, although they are identical. Double-click on the file to confirm they are identical in the Text Compare view.

    Update:

After further tests, I see that the files appear twice in the Synchronizer view, once with the "Additions" symbol (plus), and once with the "Modified" symbol (red bi-directional arrows). This is also confusing: Why does Harvest think the file is new if there is already an item with that name in the same client path?

    Please assist!

    Thank you,

OK, my user is getting slightly annoyed - I'm going to log a case for this.

Yes, its better to raise a case for this. So that we (engineering team) could spend some dedicated time on it.

So, please go ahead and log a case. We shall prioritise it and start working on it.

    Regards,

    Mallik.

    Hi Mallik,

I'm just going to try something else first: Specify all objects in the repository as binary before doing the initial load.
