Hi Dan,
Thanks for reaching out.
I will answer this in a general way, and then provide a few examples below:
So the "correct file" you need depends on a number of factors including the version of SEP client, platform type, OS version and client type installed.
NOTE: We make several different content files "available for download" on our website here. Each is specific to the factors above.
It's recommended that you choose the specific content that matches your specific use case.
Regarding the specific client type's available we have (Standard, Dark Network, or Embedded / Low Bandwidth)
For steps to determine what client type you actually have installed see this link:
https://knowledge.broadcom.com/external/article/164680/verify-which-endpoint-protection-client.html
Separately, once you have this, that'll help you know which specific "exe" you need to target. (NOTE: The exe's are to be used for individual clients)
Also, the content / exe's NOT showing (Standard client only), are what you'd need to target for the "Standard" client type.
However, for the Dark Network or Embedded / Low Bandwidth client install type, you would need to look for those as shown in parentheses. (Dark-Network Client only) or (Low-Bandwidth Client only)
Lastly, the files ending in .jdb are for the On Prem SEPM manager only, for more information on that see this link:
https://knowledge.broadcom.com/external/article/151309/download-jdb-files-to-update-definitions.html
Next, see the examples for each requested version:
Example 1: For a "Windows 64 bit system" running "SEP client version 14.3 RU4" with a "Standard client install" you would choose the following content:

Example 2: For a "Windows 64 bit system" running "SEP client version 14.3 RU9" with a "Standard client install" you would use the following content:

Example 3: For a "Windows 32 bit system" running "SEP client version 14.3 RU5 or earlier" with a "Standard client install" you would use the following content:

NOTE: The specific exe's listed in on our website are "subject to change" daily so they won't necessarily be the same exact numbering each time.
I hope this information helps.
Thanks,
Russ_V

How does one determine the correct file to download that matches the specific release version? for example, which file for 14.3 RU4 and 14.3 RU9?

Use this alternate method:
https://definitions.symantec.com/defs/download/symantec_enterprise/index.html
Find the files manually.

Hi All,
we normally manually download definitions from
Symantec Endpoint Protection 14
This worked yesterday, today there are no available links.
Anyone else seeing this issue.
Thanks,
Vincent
