  • 1.  Supported OS for Policy Manager

Can Policy Manager v11.1 be installed on a Windows Server 2019?
This document only list Windows 11 as the supported OS.
    https://techdocs.broadcom.com/us/en/ca-enterprise-software/layer7-api-management/api-gateway/11-1/release-notes/requirements-and-compatibility.html#concept.dita_req_comp_refresh_gw10cr2_policymanager

Do we have a reference similar to this KB article, but for Windows Server 2019? https://knowledge.broadcom.com/external/article/140978/compatibility-of-policy-manager-with-win.html

    Thank you.

    Ain,

You will likely have no trouble installing it or running it on other windows versions (I still use Windows 10 and I have customers using Windows Server based jump boxes).  The table in the linked documentation shows "supported versions", not compatible versions.  I even run it on Linux fairly regularly, which isn't listed at all.

In the event that you open a support case identifying a policy manager issue, you may be asked to demonstrate that the issue occurs on a supported OS.  Issues that only present when running policy manager on an unsupported OS may not receive assistance.

I don't know of a KB article listing compatibly.  Is this something you need for compliance?   I have had no trouble running it on any system that I have tried.

    I hope this helps?

Yes, it runs fine for us.

For security reasons, we cannot connect directly to our API Gateways from workstations. We have a Windows server on a restricted network that we're required to use, thus the need for Windows 2019.

    Hello Ain,

We don't test, and so we don't officially support, Policy Manager on Windows Server. That's another reason the KB article is not actively maintained for later versions. However, to the article's, Joe's and David's points, it should just work. Also, if you had problems with Policy Manager on Windows Server, we would still attempt to support you. However, we might ask you to reproduce your problem on a supported OS as part of that support process.

Thank you all for responding. The reason for insisting on documentation is so that the end user will have a written statement that they will still get the support, even if the OS is not listed. Similar to this note in v10.1, but for Windows Server.
