    Posted May 10, 2024 05:10 AM

    Hello Community,

Azure using the azure communication services(sendgrid) for sending the email and is it feasible to use it in the automic v21.0.9?

I have tried the following to implement

    UC_CLIENT_SETTINGS

SMTP_FROM_ADDRESS : as suggested by the AD team

    SMTP_PORT : 587

    SMTP_SERVER: smtp.sendgrid.net

i have created a SCRI job for testing and the job is ended ok with the error "U00050037 SMTP Server 'smtp.sendgrid.net' replied with Error '550 Unauthenticated senders not allowed'

    Script:

    :set &mail= send_mail("*********@.*com",,"test","test email")
    :set &ERRNR#= SYS_LAST_ERR_NR()
    :SET &ERRINS#= SYS_LAST_ERR_INS()
    :SET &MESSAGE#= GET_MSG_TXT(&ERRNR#,&ERRINS#)
    :P &MESSAGE#
    :P &mail

Hence i have defined the UC_SMTP_LOGIN with the login details shared by the AD team and tried executing the same job and received the following error

U00020574 Runtime error in object 'SCRI.TEST', line '00002'. Login object 'LOGIN.SMTP' not found or no login information for this platform or host ('MAIL', '*').

So i have created a login object as mentioned below

Host/Agent name: smtp.sendgrid.net(As a place holder since no agent is installed sendgrid is a Saas platform

    type : mail

username : As shared by the AD team

password : As shared by the AD team

I understand since i have used the host/agent name as a place holder still the alert "U00020574 Runtime error in object 'SCRI.TEST', line '00002'. Login object 'LOGIN.SMTP' not found or no login information for this platform or host ('MAIL', '*')." persists

Any suggestion or resolution for it?

    Regards

    Karthick

    Hi Karthick,

I assume that your mail provider does not accept the "plain" protocol, right? It seems that the configuration is not complete ...

Please check the instructions for secure emails on this page.

    regards,
    Peter

    Hi Peter,

Thank you for the response, The sendgrid is SaaS services which is used inazure environments and our organisation is planned to stop the subscriptions and to utilise the azure inbuilt emailing services and is it feasible to use the azure emailing services in automic V21 non kubernetes edition using the rest API services?

    Hi Karthick,

Automic supports SMTP and SMTPS. From what I see from the sendgrid documentation it supports SMTP and SMTPS too. That means that you should be able to configure the native Mail integration at the link that @Peter Grundler shared.

    Hi Markus,

Thank you for your response, where we are using automic v21.9 version and i have tried with the native services smtp.azurecomm.net

we have received the follow error, we do not have any certificate for the authentication instead we have got the  Dot-delimited Format and pipe-demilited format credentials, even if we use it the jobs says the same error.

we had a call with microsoft and asked for the certificate authentication method and still the features are unavailable at azure.

Any suggestions on proceeding without using certificate authentication method?

    Hi Karthick,

from my understanding SMTPS always required a certificate. There is no option without a certificate when using TLS. Pls go for SMTP instead.

Pls also double check the SMTP_PROCOTOL parameter in UC_SYSTEM_SETTINGS regarding STARTTLS.

    Regards, Markus

    Hi together,

I have created case 33692825 regarding TLS and basic authentication several weeks ago and have been informed by the Broadcom support that this combination should work. Currently this issue is investigated by R&D, however the AutomationEngine sends "AUTH PLAIN" instead of STARTTLS, therefore the protocol is not switched to TLS and the mailhub aborts sending secure mails with a "535 TLS required" error.

Btw, didn't help to install SP10HF1 either.

Short update, seems that there were some improvements in servicepack 10.

Finally we managed to send secure mails (SMTPS) now with SMTP_PROTOCOL=STARTTLS and and valid credentials defined with the SMTP_LOGIN variable :-))

    Maybe this will help you.

Btw, have also asked the support to update the documentation to avoid any misunderstandings, as "Using TLS to secure the SMTP connection requires a certificate" is definitely not correct
