Reports in PM to locate devices where they are managed in different Data Collectors

    Good afternoon, everyone.

I have a question. Is it possible to create a dashboard in DX NetOps Performance Management (23.3.13) that displays the devices managed by DataColector? We want to query multiple devices and get the above in a single report.

    Regards!

Traditionally, each DC is related to one IP Domain. So this would be a primary way of filtering device by collector, if you have one collector per IP Domain.

If you have multiple DCs for the same IP Domain, I don't think there's a way to differentiate between the devices managed by each DC. As far as I know, the DC assignment is made randomly, based on existing communication between the DC and the managed device, at discovery moment. There's also the possibility to move devices from a DC to another, under the same IP Domain, either automatically or manually. Here some info on that.

It is important to mention also that every time a device is moved to another DC, the baseline is lost.

Catalin is correct.  When there is more than 1 DC in an IP Domain, we do ICMP/SNMP check on each DC.  If all DCs show as supported, we randomly choose a DC to assign the device.  We do not use capacity to determine which DC to use.

Best to use ACLs on DC to control what IPs a DC can reach if you want to use multiple DCs but control which IPs a DC can poll.
