  • 1.  Performance degradation in v21.0.13 (HF1) / MS-SQL / all WP processes at 100%

    Posted May 12, 2025 06:23 AM

    Hello,

for all of you who are not on v24 yet:

We did a upgrade vom 21.0.9 to 21.0.13 and had massive problems with the performance afterwards. All WP processes went up to 100% and a lot of

locks were visible in the MS-SQL.

Fortunatly the tricise support helped us quickly and delivered the following article with the cause/solution/workaround:

    https://knowledge.broadcom.com/external/article?articleNumber=394501

After we updated the two indices the performance went to normal.

Unfortunately Broadcom don't delivered this known issue/bug in the v21.0.13 documents and sent no information via mail beforehand so we had

a lot of unnecessary work to do yesterday at the sunny sunday!

@Broadcom: Why? Please send some information to the customers or please write such information at least in the official documents! Thanks.

    Best regards

    Stephan

Just wanted to say this post was very timely as we happened to upgrade from 21.0.8 to 21.0.13 over the weekend and came into everything on fire this morning, so thanks for that! Ended up being a fairly simple workaround, though I'm wondering if this is related to why the upgrade went off the rails when we attempted to run it two weeks ago.

But I have to agree, I feel like this is the type of thing that should go into that empty 'Known Issues' doc.

    Hello Stephan,

Also a big thanks from my side. After Upgrade from 24.3 to 24.4 HF1 we run in the same issue as described. So its not only V21 affected!

    Best regards

We're currently on 24.3 (with SQL server) but planning to upgrade to 24.4 within the next couple months or so...  We have occasionally seen the system spike like this, although we never did get to the bottom of what had caused it, so I'm not sure if it's the same issue or not...

Regardless, do you gather if it's safe to apply these indexes to any environment, or only to 21.0.13 and 24.4 hf1?  (Probably a question for Broadcom to answer...)
