Now Available: Gen 8.6.4 Consolidation

The Gen team is excited to announce the availability of Gen 8.6.4 Consolidation for distributed Gen systems. This is a consolidation of all distributed PTFs published after Gen 8.6.3 (86300) in 2022.

Hi Zach,

Thanks, Zach, for this update-it saves a lot of time when we're preparing to upgrade new development devices to be ready for Gen.

I installed it on my PC, and I noticed that the build date shows as 2022. Is that correct?

The installation was done over WKS86300, which I understand is a prerequisite for WKS86400.

Hi Tarek,

It's good to hear that the consolidation PTF is useful to you and your organization.

To answer your question, yes this is what we expect to see.
The consolidation PTF contains all other PTFs released from WKS86300 to the date of release. Each deliverable retains the build date time stamp of the individual PTFs that are contained in the consolidation.

In this case Toolset.exe was delivered with TSN86301, and therefore has a timestamp from when that binary was created (07/24/2022).

While I appreciate the time savings of this consolidation, it would be even better (for our organization) if we could just install one roll-up to get current.

e.g.
1. new machine installed, requires Gen Toolset software.

2. Install Gen Toolset Base.

3. Install Roll-Up PTF (one only)

4. PC is up to date.

I would second the approach Doug is suggesting. The present install stack for a new Windows machine seems to be
Gen 8.6->WKS86200->WKS86300->WKS86400.
Other platforms get a bit more complicated as the CSE and Runtime are separated meaning double the work for the entire stack.
