Looking for Community Insights: DLP Console Slowness During DB Backup Window

    Hi Team,

We're observing slowness in the Symantec DLP Enforce Console, which appears to correlate with the timing of the Oracle database backup process.

After adjusting the backup schedule in coordination with our DB team, the issue was no longer observed. This suggests that even the initial trigger of the backup may be contributing to the performance impact.

Back up of the DB will most certainly create problems if the DLP services are still running.

Symantec supports cold back ups only, so performance impact should be none as services should be down at the time the backup is taken.

Please note: If you restore a DB backup that was taken while the services are running you have a high probability of the database being put into an inconsistent state.

In Oracle Enterprise there are solutions where they can take warm backups. But any performance impact would need to be discussed with the DBAs responsible for that solution.
