Dear Broadcom Customer:
The purpose of this Advisory is to inform you of a change planned on June 12, 2025 with JCLCheck Workload Automation to the Visual Studio Code (VS Code) Extension. If you are using the VS Code JCL Language Support extension, please read the information below and follow the instructions to avoid being impacted by this change.
PRODUCT(S) AFFECTED: JCLCheck Workload Automation
DESCRIPTION:
The Visual Studio Code (VS Code) Extension, JCL Language Support, made available from the https://marketplace.visualstudio.com web site, is being enhanced. This involves separating the JCLCheck Workload Automation dependent features from independent features such as syntax highlighting and job snippets. This will result in two VS Code extensions: JCL Language Support, JCL Check. The JCL Language Support extension provides the product independent features. The JCL Check extension provides features that require JCLCheck Workload Automation (e.g. linting, reporting).
SYMPTOMS:
The ability to validate JCL or generate reports in the z/OS environment running JCLCheck Workload Automation is no longer available.
IMPACT:
Customers requiring full JCLCheck validation or reporting will need to install the JCL Check VS Code extension. This extension will also implicitly install the basic functionality (syntax highlighting, job snippets, etc.) now delivered with the JCL Language Support VS Code extension. Customers requiring basic functionality only can install the JCL Language Support VS Code extension without installing the JCL Check VS code extension.
PROBLEM RESOLUTION:
Install the JCL Check VS Code Extension from the https://marketplace.visualstudio.com web site.
