Subject: JCLCheck 12.0 Continuous Delivery Feature PTF General Availability Announcement
On behalf of CA Technologies, a Broadcom Company, we appreciate your business and the opportunity to provide you with high-quality, innovative software and services. As part of our ongoing commitment to customer success under the Continuous Delivery model, we are pleased to announce the General Availability (GA) of the following:
Feature PTF LU14041 / LU14042 - New OVRDD Runtime Option for Validate Override DD
JCLCheck can now optionally issue a warning message if a JCL DD override statement references a nonexistent JCL procedure step (procstep) or DD name. With this PTF, JCLCheck offers the OVRDD|NOOVRDD option to control whether the user is notified that an overriding JCL procedure DD statement references a DD statement that does not exist in the procedure. When option OVRDD is specified and JCLCheck encounters a procedure DD override for a DD name that does not exist, the following new informational message will be displayed:
CAY6692I- OVERRIDE DD {ddname} FOR STEP {stepname} does not reference an existing DD statement"
This warning compliments existing JCL checking when the JCL procedure step name is not in the proc (CAY6016E OVERRIDDEN STEP "step" NOT FOUND IN PROCEDURE) and helps to prevent production issues. Because overriding a JCL procedure DD statement that does not exist is a valid technique to add a DD statement to a JCL procedure, NOOVRDD is the default value.
Please review the JCLCheck solution and OVRDD|NOOVRDD Runtime Option in the Reference section of the product documentation. You can find the JCLCheck 12.0 documentation at techdocs.broadcom.com/JCLCheck
