Interface vs Alternative Interface in PM

Hi All,

 Can someone share what is the difference between alternate interface vs interface Metric family ? How the elements mapping is done across the MF , Some of the interfaces which are part of Interface MF is mapped into Alternate interface MF because that specific VC is not part of interface MF .

Hi,

for us the most used feature was that in this metric family you can monitor the CRC or FCS errors. Which are used to see if there are cable issues in the field. 

the alternate interface metric family use the ethernet/dot3 mib or the layer 2 mib from some vendors.
