    Posted Feb 12, 2025 04:43 AM

    Hello,

I've started getting today a few email notifications on a few topics from Communities I'm not part of.

Even for the Communities that I'm interested and have subscribed I turned off the Email notifications. Thinking that I was - mistakenly - subscribed to some extra Communities, I've followed the 'Unsubscribe link from one of the Emails, but upon hitting unsubscribe I was greeted with a message concerning a different user:

Your request to unsubscribe USER1 XYZT has been accepted and will take effect shortly.

However, this is not my account name - it seems I've been mistakenly receiving emails on behalf of another account ? Can you please check whether my email address hasn't been erroneusly associated with another account ?

NB: if this is not the avenue to follow in order to get this fixed, let me know what's the preferred avenue. I tried to open the New Support Portal Help File link posted, but it goes to a erroneous site/

I have the same issue, receiving mails from threads from different community fora stating that I receive it because I am following the thread. Looking at the thread I am actually not following the thread.
So I guess something is off with the community fora.

Already disabled Participation Emails in my notification settings but this has no effect.

@LCode -  the vendor is researching a patch that is affecting user settings.   We are working the problem with the vendor.  We are seeing this amongst other non-Broadcom vendor-managed sites as well.  Stay tuned.  Thx  ~jm

@LCode and @Cristi Mitrana and all impacted community members  -  the vendor has released their RCA.

    What Happened
Higher Logic Online Communities users receive an informational "following" email when other
users contribute to message threads that they've initiated or to which they've responded, to
inform them of new discussion on the message thread. Members in some Online Communities
received these "following" emails for message threads to which they had not contributed,
including for communities they were not members of.

    Root Cause
We incorrectly updated SQL query criteria used to determine recipients of following emails.
The altered criteria were used to exclude a subset of users based on their community email
subscription settings. The update to the SQL criteria caused that subset of users to be
included rather than excluded, which caused certain members to receive additional emails.

    Corrective Actions
➢ Code change that introduced the issue was backed out of the deployment and the re-
    deployment was completed

➢ Code change that introduced the issue has been updated and is pending re-review and re-
testing based on information derived from incident analysis.

    Thanks for the follow-up.
It does seem that the erroneous notifications are no longer sent, I haven't received any since last week.

    Thank you.
