Hi - we're trying to use virtual tape on IDMS DBAN DBN2 SORTWKnn and we're getting

§   WER122A INVALID INTERMEDIATE STORAGE DEVICE. DBAN invokes SYNCSORT.

I haven't been able to find anything on the internet.

Has anybody been able to make this work?

    Hey there, Denise.

Syncsort (and DFSORT) can't use tape data sets for their SORTWKnn files; they need to be on DASD. The idea is that SORT will need to access data in the files at random locations, as opposed to the sequential processing that tape uses.
