I was today years old when I learned that you need to use the same library name for
    YCPYLIB  Copy library
    YOLDLIB  Old library

in order to get 2e to copy the data back in automatically.

Maybe they could make that a little clearer in the instructions...

    Hi Eamonn,

    Good day,

The mentioned point was discussed in the below documentation in the section of "Retaining Data When You Recreate Physical Files".

    https://techdocs.broadcom.com/us/en/ca-enterprise-software/it-operations-management/ca-2e/8-7/generating-and-implementing/generating-and-compiling-your-application/regenerating-and-recompiling.html

In that section "Retaining Data When You Recreate Physical Files" in the Note 2E mentioned like below:

Note: Usually, these two model values are the same because you store data in a library and then copy the data back from the same library.

If you want file's old data to be backup into the library which was mentioned in YOLDLIB model value and want to insert new data after compilation then we can manually create a same file and populate new data in the library which was mentioned in YCPYLIB. In this scenario, we can maintain two separate library values for YOLDLIB and YCPYLIB model values.

Usually In most of cases, we just want to retain the old data after compilation also. So that is the reason, we suggesting use same library for YOLDLIB and YCPYLIB.

    Thanks & Regards,
    CA/Broadcom 2E Development Team.
