  • 1.  Getting quarantined Mails details through api

    Hello Everyone,

I would like to inquire whether it is possible to retrieve details of quarantined emails in Symantec Messaging Gateway (SMG) via the API. We are planning to integrate SMG with DLP, and emails will be quarantined if they match specific content filters defined in DLP.

    My primary questions are:

    1. Can we use the API to fetch information about quarantined emails?
    2. Is it possible to release quarantined emails through the API?

    Looking for your suggestions.

    Regards,

Those are great questions. API integration is not mature yet in smg.

Which DLP solution? If you are going with Symantec DLP, then the integration is natural. But it is not done by an API metadata pull from SMG. Symantec DLP records all the matching metadata first and then adds a message header that SMG can use to make the quarantine decision.

Info about REST API is here https://techdocs.broadcom.com/us/en/symantec-security-software/email-security/messaging-gateway/10-9-0/Administration---Settings/smg-rest-api.html

It's quite limited so you can only monitor SMG and query Message Audit Log
