The Layer7 product team is happy to announce the experimental availability of the new Layer7 Policy Manager (PM2) experience.
If interested, please respond here or directly to Ben Urbanski to request access.
PM2 is a new modern web browser based alternative to the legacy Layer7 Policy Manager (PM1) thick client Java application. The primary goal of PM2 is to replace PM1 altogether. At the same time, we plan to deliver many enhancements and new capabilities in PM2, both before and after PM1 is replaced.
Note, the Experimental release is focused on getting a somewhat working instance of PM2 into the hands of our users early so we can begin collecting feedback that may influence its design and development as it's advanced to Preview and then GA. The experimental release is far from complete, and it doesn't prioritize hiding incomplete features. Consequently, there are many broken links on its landing page, and other place holder controls that may not work either.
Some key capabilities that are more complete in the Experimental release are:
-
The ability to export Graphman bundles at the service, folder and gateway levels; and the ability to import Graphman bundles at the gateway level (via the services and policies sidebar view)
-
The ability to manage cluster-wide properties
-
The ability to manage stored passwords
-
The ability to publish a web API manually or using a Swagger or OAS specification (via Publish Service)
-
The ability to make, save and activate policy changes using drag and drop assertions from the policy assertion palette and an assertion properties sidebar
-
The following assertions:
-
Add Audit Details
-
Add Comment to Policy
-

-
Apply Distributed Rate Limit
-
At least one assertion must evaluate to true

We currently plan to release PM2 as Preview in the next major release of the Layer7 API Gateway, 11.2 (currently targeting end of October 2025, subject to change). Our plan is to have completed support for all assertions (230+) by the Preview release. GA will come some time later, and the replacement of PM1 will come some time after GA.
Experimental Features
Early access progressive delivery features that are rapidly developed by Layer7 and offered to customers for experimentation. Not intended for production use. Depending on user feedback, experimental features may be altered in or removed from future releases.
Layer7 support is not available. Users are encouraged to share feedback in Layer7 Communities as responses to this thread.
