With the release of DX NetOps 22.2.3 release, the Spectrum administrators and users can now be enforced to adhere to password complexity when creating the new user or when updating the passwords for existing users.
A much more stringent mechanism has been implemented for the creating/updating of the user password to enhance system security. This comes in handy where LDAP integration is not in place and rely on the user management via native Spectrum.
The new mechanism enforces the password must adhere to the below conditions:
- Different from the username
- Minimum length of 8 characters
- Maximum length of 32 characters
- Contain at least 3 of the following types of characters:
- Special characters
- Uppercase letters (A-Z)
- Lowercase letters (a-z)
- Numbers (0-9)
These conditions are enforced whenever a new user is created or the password for the existing user is being updated.
In addition to this, we have also provided a parameter (Enforce Password Complexity) to enable/disable this functionality on the DX NetOps Spectrum Configuration Page. By default this parameter is set to Enabled.
