Download-Upload files support on Desktop 3270 terminal

Hello

We are to install Zowe Desktop 3270 termial. Is the upload/download files to/from host (similar to IBM PCOMM p.6 option) supported ?

Hi Kostantinos,

The Zowe Desktop TN3270 is a very basic terminal. All possible settings (related to connection only) are on the screenshot. 

No file manipulation is supported by TN3270.

However, there is the Editor application, which supports downloading and uploading of Unix System Services files and downloading members.

For batch processing or processing a large amount of files, I can recommend you Zowe CLI, which is a client side Command Line Interface.

And finally, there is an Extension to VScode, called Zowe Explorer, allowing file manipulation.

There is an issue with Zowe Editor in V3: https://docs.zowe.org/v3.0.x/whats-new/release-notes/v3_0_0/#known-issues

You should be able to use it with the suggested hint, for example: https://example.com:7554/zlux/ui/v1/ZLUX/plugins/org.zowe.zlux.bootstrap/web/?use-v2-desktop=true

We have problem using the Editor app as it does not support Greek (EBCDIC 875) code page translation to windows 1253 greek. Is there any plan to support of Greek code page?

Hi Konstantinos,

We have checked this and you are right: the support for encodings (available in TN3270) is missing. We have raised Github ticket to support it.

There is no estimation at this point, the feature must be implemented in ZSS component and then used by Editor.
