  • 1.  Discrepancy Between "Delivery Success" and "Hold in Spam Message" in SMG Message Audit Logs

    Posted Jun 20, 2025 10:40 AM

On Symantec Messaging Gateway (SMG 10.9.0-3), I noticed that for some emails classified as spam, the Message Audit Logs show the action as "Hold in Spam Message", which is expected. However, without releasing the message, the log also shows "Delivery Success" for the same email.

Despite this "Delivery Success" status, the message still remains in the spam quarantine and has not been delivered to the recipient's inbox.

Why does the Message Audit Log indicate delivery success even though the message was not released and still resides in the quarantine?

Thank you in advance for your help.

It related to the fact that the action is successful that a delivery was made with smg. NOT that it arrived to the destination you determined. It is considered successful to spam quarantine.

    Thanks
