Hello Everyone,
We are extremely excited to announce the beginning of our Beta program for "Defects to Features". This is functionality that allows Defects to be made direct children of Features (or your lowest level Portfolio Item). We all know that Defects fall into different categories, and for those that come in with no direct correlation to an ongoing User Story, we often want a way to plan and track them without the hassle of creating a "dummy" User Story.
Now you can!
Not only are we providing a way to mechanically do this, but "Feature-Defects" (Defects whose parent is a Feature) will also be able to be included in all of our Portfolio Item progress reporting. Pages like Capacity Planning, Timeline, Portfolio Kanban, Portfolio Items, and Portfolio Item editors have been upgraded to include all direct children instead of only User Stories.
We have also built a new progress indicator that takes all of those different "percent done" bars and includes them in an easy-to-understand progress field
What if you don't want to create "Feature-Defects"? If this is not a process you're interested in, that's no problem. If you do not create Feature-Defects, the operation and experience in Rally will not change.
When can I start using this?
We are running a Beta for this functionality for at least 4 weeks, meaning this functionality is planned to move to GA mid-June. But if you'd like to test it out early, you are welcome to join our beta group. Simply contact me at nate.bever@broadcom.com, and I can set you up right away.
