  • 1.  CA Harvest SCM v14.5 upgrade

    Posted Dec 11, 2023 05:36 AM

    Good day,

I am starting preparations to upgrade from v13 to v14.5. We will implement it on our test environment first.

    1. Is the v13.0.3 Workbench and Administrator tool backwards compatible with the server? (i.e. Can I upgrade my server (broker) and phase in the Workbench upgrades?)
    2. I also have v13 agents running on Windows and Solaris. Are they backwards compatible?

    Kind regards,

    Jarus

    Hi Jarus,

    Thanks for letting us know.

    1. Yes ,you can use v13.0.3 workbench and administrator with v14.5 server.

Yes ,you can have server upgrade and workbench upgrade in multiple phases

2.To be able to connect to v14.5 server ,workbench and agents if used from the same windows machine need to be at same level.

Ex: v14.5 server on non windows
v13.0.3 workbench and v13.0.3 agent on windows can be used

There is a limitaton that you can use this combination if you do not have server side UDP's
You can choose to work on projects where there are no server side UDP's on the TEST environment.

We also understand that you have several server platforms .

We can work with you to review your preparedness through support case.

Kindly let us know and we will be able to reach out to you through e-mail as well

    Regards,
    Balakrishna

    Hi Balakrishna,

It is good to know about the limitation regarding server-side UDPs.

    >> There is a limitaton that you can use this combination if you do not have server side UDP's

Is this also true when upgrading from 14.0.2 to 14.5?

    >> You can choose to work on projects where there are no server side UDP's on the TEST environment.

Hmh, as we do not deploy udps to clients, we only have server-side udps.
Again, thanks for the mentioning of the limitation.

    Kind regards
    Jörg

    Hi Balakrishna,

I've upgraded just my one Windows agent to V14.5. I can invoke UDP's on that agent, but when running CLI commands from the agent to the V13 broker, I run into problems. I've reverted back, but I have test environments where I can upgrade and revert as often as I like.

    This is what we have:

    Broker:

SUSE Linux Enterprise Server 12 SP 3 (Running on OS390 z/OS) (Development and test environments)

    Agents:

    1. Oracle Solaris 11.4 (Development and Test servers)
    2. Windows Server 2016 Datacenter on VMWare 7 (Development and Test servers)

    Client (Workbench and Administrator tool):

    Microsoft Windows 10 Enterprise

    Microsoft Windows 11

I will raise a support case.

    Kind regards,

    Jarus

    HI Jarus,

Thank you for mentioning all the details.

We can continue working through the support case.

Please raise the same with Broadcom support and we can review it further with better focus.

    Regards,

    Balakrishna
