    Hi Kaj,

I'm happy to hear that AA now supports Tomcat 10. As Tomcat 11 has already been released will you continue to support newer versions of Tomcat?

    Best regards

    Keld.

Hi @Kaj Wierda. Thanks for the notification.

The release announcement states that v24.4 includes a new Java-based z/OS agent:

This version introduces the new Java-based z/OS Agent, which includes TLS, UTF-8, secure email, and zIIP support. The Agent requires a JRE (version 17 or higher).

For more information, see Installing the z/OS Java Agent.

However, the mentioned documentation page Installing the z/OS Java Agent appears to contradict the note about TLS support:

Important! The Automation Engine uses TLS/SSL to communicate only with the Windows, UNIX, and Java Agents. This particular Agent is not a TLS/SSL Agent and therefore connects to a communication process (CP) and uses non-TLS/SSL encryption. The communication between a TLS/SSL and a non-TLS/SSL Agent can be established using the TLS Gateway.

Does the new Java-based z/OS agent natively support TLS, or is the TLS Gateway still required?

    Hi @MichaelLowry

Thank you for pointing out that inconsistency in our documentation. We will update it soon.

I can confirm that the new Java-based z/OS-agent supports TLS communication natively when connection to the AE or doing file transfers from/to Agents that already using TLS. In such cases no TLS-gateway is needed.

    Michael

The documentation page Installing the z/OS Java Agent has been updated, and now states [emphasis mine]:

The Automation Engine and the Windows, UNIX, and Java Agents communicate using TLS/SSL. These agents establish a connection with the Java communication process (JCP), which uses trusted certificates to prove their identity to other communication partners.

Thanks for the quick reply and correction.
