Also, looking at a no reuse password mechanism recommended by Broadcom security team so the administrator can force new password creation
V9.5 release notes provided:
· Applications Manager 9.5.2 – Released April 30, 2024
o Windows job fail when an argument is used as a path
o Third-party libraries upgrades
o Improve LDAPS
o App Man information is not available when clicking on About Option
o Terrapin attack vulnerability CVE-2023-48795
o Creating a schedule by selecting the fiscal calendar starting a future date gives error
o Some windows job hang
o RMI_status from awexe with more than 7 chars length are displayed as ###
o Display Error messages only in the log file as they are warning messages
o Apache Tomacat 10.x version is missed in app man 9.5.0 compatibility matrix
o Order of conditions is improper in conditions tab of job/process flow
· Applications Manager 9.5.1 – Released December 16, 2023
o In an Oracle RAC environment, a new option is available for AppMan. AppMan is working with a member of the cluster. If that member is coming down and another member of the cluster is taking the hand, AppMan RMI detects that change, notifies that and restarts automatically to work with the new active member of Oracle RAC
o Bug Fixes
§ Some Windows job hang
§ Intermittently jobs on windows OS hang
§ Users unable to export/import from Client
§ AppMan processes crash on Linux in debug mode
§ Incorrect Help URL in the Client
§ Password is displayed in Argument line
§ Password not getting masked
§ Client hangs when clicked for Viewing Connections
§ Blank Client screen for AM
§ Fixed the password checking with regular expression
§ SHA1 HMAC algorithms enabled for SSH Server
· Applications Manager 9.5.0 – Released August 1, 2023
o New Feature - To speed up the upgrade of an Applications Manager environment and simplify the administration of the solution. We offer a new feature called Auto-Upgrade Remote Agent that allows all agents or a subset of agents to be upgraded from the RMI server. Minimal backward compatibility with the previous version of Applications Manager also means that an upgrade can be planned in several stages.
o This new feature lets you export Process Flows or Jobs to a JSON file using a command line. This command exports not only the definition of a process flow, but also all its dependencies. As the export file is a JSON file, it is easy to modify the information before importing. The import can also be carried out using the same command, with the JSON file as input. Finally, this new command line can be used to insert Applications Manager into a DEVOPS process flow, exporting process flows from one environment and importing them into a new environment by accepting updates to the export JSON file.
o Bug Fixes
§ Installer asks for the webserver port twice
§ User_keystore file not found when starting sshd server
§ Installer checks for SERVER_ROOT environment variable
§ Installer still checks for 'apachectl' directory
§ Use Request output device checkbox gets selectable after having an output device attached
§ Increasing the Column Margin value breaks Explorer
§ Cdinst.sh and cdinst.s.sh don't have executable permissions
§ An optional flag has been added to skip or register the unfound logs for OAE jobs
§ Client cannot reconnect to RmiServer
§ Debug message echoed out on the install script
§ "No Port available error" when user_keystore is not present
§ If AgentClientPort is set, the agents do not connect to secondary RMI servres
§ NTspawn passing the shortpath cause issue with some .net exe
§ Ntspawn previously does not support nested double quote in argument
§ Sover command does not return the release information
§ Documentation change requested for Release information page
§ Remove previous ojdbc jar versions during upgrade of AM
5. Patching Issues surrounding AppWorx servers: Mentioned Windows patching has caused AppWorx/AxWay service interruptions at times causing backlog and polled community for any such preventive measures. One institution indicated they do stop their queues which in turn normally come back online after patching has completed. Another institution indicated when AxWay server is patched, the first job does hangs but delete it, then run again to clear w/o further issues. Most client institutions indicated AxWay on same server as windows remote agent. AxWay client version now available is V6.4 SP3.
6. AppWorx Community on Broadcom site: Helpful by sharing AppWorx issues institutions experience as well as suggestions for how to resolve. Additionally, if subscribe to certain products like AppWorx will get version release announcement and notes. Broadcom indicated tickets may be opened on the site as well for assistance with AppWorx upgrades, if needed. Providing an upgrade plan of action in your ticket would be very helpful.
7. Chat discussion: Alex mentioned that the "transaction savepoint or rollback required" error in AppWorx usually requires restarting the service before any other DNA job can run. AscendoSoft also offers a fix that would address that issue without an institution be required to stop the AppWorx service and have installed at other institutions and has prevented further occurrences, thus far.

AM/DNA/Fiserv Technical User Group Call
03/12/2024 @ 3:30 – 4:00 EDT
Facilitator: Kellie Brown/DFCU Financial
Minutes: Clifford Dawkins/SC State Federal Credit Union (SCU)
1. Meeting called to order by Kellie of DFCU @ 15:33 eastern
2. Purpose of meeting reiterated: This call is designed to foster open communication, allowing users to voice concerns, seek clarification on product usage, and share insights for improving product experience.
3. Introduced the following speakers:
a. Doug Haney; Acct Director w/Broadcom over FirstData/Fiserv/Automic groups
b. Alanna Terpin, w/Broadcom, also w/FirstData/Automic group; Customer Success Mgr; conversions/adoptions
c. Travis Dunhamn, w/Broadcom, AM SME
d. Jim Holck; President AscendoSoft
e. Alex Givens(AG), Developer/CTO AscendoSoft
4. Application Manager Roadmap: V9.5.1 was released on 12-16-2023. Multiple bug fixes are included. No client sites indicated installed on V9.5.X; AG indicated doing only one institution upgrade to V9.5.X and indicated procedure was same as any V9.4.X version . DFCU indicated an issue requiring upgrade RedHat for Linux requirement of V9.5. The consensus version of the group seems to be 9.4.3 or 9.4.4. No current issues mentioned. 9.4 End of maintenance is 10-29-2024 while end of support would be 10-29-2025. One institution not on 9.4 and reiterated support has already ended
5. Kleopatra certificate question: Inquired if any institutions are having issue getting pop-up window requesting password since last upgrade. One institution is using to encrypt/decrypt files w/o that issue. AG indicated Kleopatra more commonly used as certificate manager to key in private keys or public keys received from vendors but "under the hood" encryption/decryption done by GPG.exe. This uses keys loaded into Kleopatra. Entering password for private key gets cached for certain period which may be the cause. Suggestion made to upgrade GPG on Windows as well.
6. Axway release issue: One institution indicated FRB suggested v6.3 but majority indicated their release was v6.4 SP2 which had been mandated for 12-01-2021. Screen shot from FED provided.
7. One institution on 9.4.2HF1: inquired if able to "leapfrog" versions which group confirmed across the board on all releases. Question about difference between End of Maintenance(EOM) and End of Support(EOS). EOM is when no further updates/fixes are provided while EOS is when a product is no longer supported.
8. AG from AscendoSoft Services: AG mentioned once on V9.5 there is a new feature that once the Master is upgraded, one could individually choose agents to auto upgrade.
9. Phearith Mao w/Broadcom: covered command that would do a remote agent upgrade of V9.5.0 to V9.5.1 after Master upgraded
"remote_upgrade" is base command. Indicated " -f " force the upgrade because the agent already on 9.5.1 it would just ignore the command. Next part,
" $ /home/ams//ammedta/AM5951/……..9_5_1+build.1702453344.zip", is the path to the installation media. Lastly, " pmmao-am-linux-universal " is the host value of the remote agent desired; w/o would upgrade "ALL" agents. Reiterated that the MASTER was upgraded first. The only issue mentioned was windows agent ports for the SSHD, 50000 – 50010 were blocked and saw connection error so those had to be opened.
10. Chat discussion: Indicated Oracle is coming after client institutions for back licensing fees for using JAVA! Most AM client institutions thwarted this by using the JDK version which is still free, and version 17 is now available AM client institutions.
11. Next meeting date: May 21st at 15:30 eastern
