  • 1.  Automatic start Alarm sever feature in HA mode

    Posted Oct 31, 2024 11:21 AM

    Hi Community,

Need to understand which component of Alarm serve feature is automatically starts in secondary server when we configured High Availability. We are facing an issue that preprocessing rules are not working as expected so kindly suggest!

And also is it necessary to enable bidirectional forwarding in Secondary server?

    Thank you in advance

    Thanks & Regards,

    Puneeth

    Hi Puneeth,

Follow the DX UIM high Availability Guide

Its a bit outdated but still mostly relevant and can answer your questions.

    Hi Puneeth,

The HA probe turns on queues and probes but also enables the whole AutoOperator in the NAS so that your actions/correlations can be processed when the secondary takes over. This will include the PreProcessor which only needs to be running on one NAS.

Both NAS's should be active with Bidirectional forwarding between them. The secondary needs a copy of everything on the Primary, ready to take over and also for the small number of alarms that might be created on the secondary but more importantly for when the the Secondary NAS has been running for a while and then flips back to the Primary, all of the new Alarms and alarm updates need to be replicated back to the Primary.

    Hi Puneeth,

What do you mean with "preprocessing rules are not working as expecting"?

Did you have a failover situation that you suspect HA? If yes is "auto-operator" in active nas enabled?

Are none of your preprocessing rules working or only some of them?

Are your normal Nas rules working?

Do you see perhaps in the nas log messages like: "PREPROCESSOR ERROR"?
