ApplicationInterface/Java Api (Uc4.jar) and Automic v21

Hey guys,

We will soon upgrade one of our systems to v21. For that system we have additional web app (self service portal) build on the base of the Java Api v12.3.6
While i was searching information if that web app will work with v21 of automic without any intervention i found two KB article which kinda contradict with the recent release of v21.0.5

12.3 ApplicationInterface uc4.jar connecting to 21.0 error: Different versions on server (21.0) and client (12.3.).

From the KB articles one can understand that the ApplicationInterface will be discontinued and the mere existence of the uc4.jar in the v21.0.4 release was a miss.
However the ApplicationInterface is also part of the v21.0.5. It appears also in the Update Information file and according that file it is updated version (from 21.0.4 to 21.0.5).

Having said that, i am kinda confused if ApplicationInterface is still supported product, do i need to recompile the web app using the latest version of the Java Api or the 12.3.9HF2 version.

Hi Krum,

the application interface is still supported in v21. 

If you would like to use a 12.3 based, non TLS, uc4.jar to connect with v21 then please use 12.3.9HF2 and point it to a v21 CP.

If you are ok with using the TLS version of the interface then upgrade it to the latest v21 uc4.jar and connect it to a v21 JCP.

For the time being we will target the 12.3.9HF2 to connect to the upgraded AE, as it is more simple solution for our web app.
Our customer have a security requirement to always be on Current Version minus one and the 21.0.4 uc4.jar looks to have some issues.

BTW does that mean that in the KB article is wrongly mentioined that the delivery of Application Interface is stopped?

Hi Krum,

uc4.jar is still supported and will be maintained.

The KB article is actually about automic.dll, which is the .NET version uc4.jar. The automic.dll is no longer delivered. I'll ask to make the KB article more clear.
