Archive manager lost connection to spectroserver

  • 1.  Archive manager lost connection to spectroserver

    Dear All,

I have spectrum 9.1 installed with ehealth 6.1 on one of our client. Spectrum is working fine but please note the issues

Archive Manager has been shut down and cannot connect with spectro server because either the user model of this user
doesnot exist or .hostcrc file doesnot permit it.

I have upgraded the patch to 9.1 (previously was 9.0), but issue remains same.
I have repaired the database but issue remains same (Archmgr -repair)
following problems are due to archive manager

    1. Events tab is disabled --> archive manager is not available
    2. "Save Database" tab does not work and says upper mentioned error.

    OS: windows 2008

The problem is still persist from the beginning.

Please help me in this regard

    Regards,

    Naveed

    Hi Naveed,

I would check file permissions on mysql database and verify if the user used to launch Archmgr has permission to access the database. ¿Are you using SCP to launch Archmgr? ¿Are you starting SS with a different user from the one used at installation? ¿Does the database been imported from a different spectrum?
    Hope this helps!
    Regards,
    Alex

    Dear Alex,

    Thanx for the reply.

Well it was the fresh installation of windows with Administrator user. I am trying to start archive manager from SCP. and login into the server
through administrator account. I need to revisit the permissions. I am not importing the database from any other spectrum version. Spectrum
    installation is also fresh start.

    Regards,

    Naveed

In Host Security in SCP, what do you have in Server List and Users List? Try with + sign in Server List and nothing in User List (meaning all users can connect).

    Hello

It could be related to the user running the spectrum process.
I had a similar error message when i tryed to use a diffrent user then "SpectrumRoot" to start the spectrum process.

I had to use the following:
install folder\ca\spectrum\lib\SDPM>processd install username servername\spectrumroot --password [spectrumrootpassword]

This will then give the following output:
Requesting installation of service: "SPECTRUM Process Daemon"
    service already installed: requesting reconfiguration
    reconfiguration successful

I dont know if there could be some diffrence in user/password from 9.0 to 9.1 but it cant hurt to try.

    <EDIT>
Forgot to mention, that the SpectrumRoot user has to be a local admin, or this can also give allkinds of problems.
We have a secuity policy that removes local admin, from all local users, when it finds them.
So i have to add the user to local admin, before starting Spectrum.

    HI Naveed,
Can you post the contents of the $SPECROOT/SS/DDM/ARCHMGR.OUT? This is where the Archive Manager errors are written to.

    Thx,
    Bill

    Dear Bill,

Please tell me one thing, if i check .vnmrc file, the initial user is "administrator" means the alphabet "a" is in small letter.
but if i check the ARCHmgr.out file , it says starting archive manager with the user "Administrator" mean alphabet "A" is
    in capital letter.

please suggest should i use capital "A" in .vnmrc file?????

    Regards,

    Umair

If you check the user list in OneClick do you see an administrator user and an Administrator user? Or is there only one or the other?

I need to revise this statement. Chances are spectrum was installed as administrator. But the user currently logged into the SpectroSERVER is Administraor. So, we should double check the OneClick users for administrator and see how the name appears. We don't want two users of the same name (administrator, Adminstrator) as this can cause issues for Report Manager. But it does appear that administrator is the installation owner and that's the user that should login to the SpectroSERVER to start it.

    Dear All,

I would like to thanx all of you to be with me in solving problem. This is the solution :

Stop the spectrum from SCP. Double click the upgrade patch (9.1 which had been already installed), when username and password window appears i changed
the username from Administrator to administrator and rest of the installation goes as it as.

    The problem is resolved

    Umair
