    Hi Nataraj.S.M:

Could you clarify your question a bit? What is happening versus what you expect to happen. The more details you can provide the better

    Thanks,
    Joe

    Hi Nataraj,

One you create the IPSLA tests on the device ,you need to use Sysedge /SA to configure accordingly and then discover the Sysedge in Spectrum to get the tests populated in Spectrum -> locator -> SPM -> Tests. An alternate option is to create the same tests in Spectrum directly using Service performnace manager so that the tests can be monitored for performance issues.

I'm not sure about Spectrum, but in eHealth there are 2 ways of doing this:

    1. Configure devices (cisco routers, etc) via command line 'ip sla' commands and then discover devices. The tests are handled by the OS of the router and eHealth just gets performance stats from them.
    2. Using eHealth's internal Response Path tool you can create tests which are managed by ehealth and are not shown on the router. Ie. there will be no configuration in the IOS, as it's all done via SNMP.

I'm not sure if Spectrum can handle the method used in 1 above, but we have used method 2 and if you have the correct SNMP community strings it discovers these tests if the device is compatible.

For method 2, you should see devices under 'Service Performance Manager' -> Test Hosts. If you don't see any 'tests' under a device, you might have to right-click on the device and select 'Discover Tests'.

    Hi Frank

    Thanks for your information.

i have used methed 2 to configure the same. Followed the below steps to Discover IP SLA on spectrum.

open one click - Explorer - service performance manager - clicked on test hosts - Right clicked the router and clicked on discover test. Asked us to click on read or read/write. clicked on read/write.

it was discoverred which is IP SLA configured on router.

Question 1 - After discover of the host, do i need to click on active host ?

If you wish for spectrum to 'monitor' these, then yes. This will make spectrum poll for information every 5 minutes though (you can customise this though). When you 'Activate' it, you are in effect telling spectrum to actively get performance type data and you can then get spectrum to alarm on if the policy is 'violated' or exceeds thresholds.

The terminology does not mean it will 'activate' or 'deactivate' the test on the router itself, just not 'poll' for the info.

    Hi Nataraj,

From your last post you mean't that you are not receving emails for the IPSLA tests configured on the router? Can you post the alarms received in OC console for the IPSLA tests? You may also need to check your sanm filters to see if this alarm is included in the selected alarm type list.

    Cheers

I would first try and see if you get any alarms/events coming through for the IP SLA violations and only then work out why you are not getting any mail alerts.

Are you actually seeing any alerts for IP SLA in spectrum?
