Host name is showing as IP instead of server name

Hi All,

 

In the Alarm console (IM/USM), host name is displaying the IP Address instead of server name. I am using the cdm probe for process queue length and IOSTAT monitoring. Whereas, the host names are available in alarm message. I think, this will mess up when we integrate UIM with Spectrum.

How can I display server name instead of IP Address so that, alarm will be generated on server model in Spectrum?

Are you using Cluster probe together with cdm in the same robot?

Please check if hostname/ ip resolution exists for that ip

Can also try

nas -> Name Services -> Address Table

Can add / modify entry (ip adress/ hostname) there if missing

Also can right click entry and lock

Thank you Franklin for these steps. What should I do if there are more than 200 devices of this type? This is not an option as it creates more manual work.

 

The odd thing I am observing is, few alarms on the same probe are having the server name as host name whereas few are having the IP Address.

 

For now, instead of using the Name Service, I am testing it with Nas probe --> Name Service --> Enable Name Services --> Use NMS RobotName as Hostname (if available). Hope this works.

 

Please let me know if there are any other options.

This issue you are facing only for IOSTAT alarms or other alerts which is triggering from cdm probe ,Have you tracked the qos population in DR.Nimbus how it is populating with host name or IP
