  • 1.  The semaphore timeout period has expired.

    I'm getting random "U0050014 Cannot open attachment file '<some UNC path>', error code: '121', error description: 'The semaphore timeout period has expired.'. " Errors when sending files as attachment. I'm on v10 preparing to upgrade to v12.1 and this occured after migrating an engine from an older Windows OS to a MS Server 2016. Anyone experience this before?

    I have not seen that error message personally on our own system.  But looking at the information you provided in which the AE is not able to open *** file at _____ path due to a window error: '121'... 

     

    Looking up that error online, it seem to be pointing to some connection issue related to the machine... and have several potential origins.... such as weak signals or slow wired links or faulty network adapter driver or network issues (describe in this MS KB  https://support.microsoft.com/en-us/help/325487/advanced-network-adapter-troubleshooting-for-windows-workstations ).

     

    Since that is a window error, you might be able to find out more info through the Window Event Viewer.

    We found our issue. The server we are getting this error against is a Windows 2003 Server (I know), which doesn't support above SMB 1.0. The server trying to connect to it is Windows 2016, and needed to have SMB 1.0 installed (at least that's what I'm being told ).
