  • 1.  LOG: could not create IPv6 socket: Address family not supported by protocol

    Hi,

     

    I am getting error while starting Postgres DB - "LOG: could not create IPv6 socket: Address family not supported by protocol". The DB is not getting started. What settings i need to review and How to resolve this issue?

     

    Please suggest asap.

    Hi,

     

    The message itself is harmless, so there is something else causing it to not start.  Please upload the postgres log here.  Also see this link below on that message.

     

    PostgreSQL: could not create IPv6 socket (AI_ADDRCONFIG) 

     

    If anyone else has experienced this before, please feel free to add your input.

    I got this case and a Postgres Server restart solved this
