  • 1.  Automation Engine Oracle RAC support?

    Hi all,

    This is something of a follow up to this post: https://community.automic.com/discussion/comment/19010.

    I was not present during initial roll out of our Automic environments, but I've long heard rumblings that the platform does not support Oracle RAC.

    We are wondering: has RAC support has been added in recent years?

    We are running AE v9 SP8, with plans to upgrade to v9 SP11 soon, and a V11 upgrade a bit further down the line.

    I checked the Knowledge Base website, as well as the v9 SP11 System Requirements PDF that Val provided in the linked post above.

    Yes at least V9, 10 and 11 support Oracle RAC.

    Thanks for taking the time to comment, Wolfgang!

    My organization started with V8 say 5 years back, and had Automic on-site to stand up our environment(s). At that time, I am told Oracle RAC was expressly not supported.

    I found the following while poking around in the docs in the release notes of v9 SP10 and SP11. There are no "release notes" available for SP8 or SP9.

    That there is a "RAC" section I would think implies that RAC is supported now. I will pass this on to my team, and we'll look at implementing with our database upgrades that are coming.

    I also did not find an info "Ora RAC supported with V9SPxy" but a general information that its supported beginning with V9 up to V11

    Hi there Woflgang,

    We have upgraded our test environments to v9 sp 11, and want to test Automic to verify the RAC-aware functionality. Is there a way we can do this from Automic? We're working with our DBAs and not sure how we can force a situation that would prove that RAC is working as expected.

    Hi Eric

    unfortunately there is no possibility out of Automation Engine - we use Oracle Rac as "database" - every DB- functionality related tests have to be performed on DB side.
