Tech Tip: Agile Designer Start Error, Code Integrity Check Failed

Issue:

After using Agile Designer for a small amount of time, I am receiving the following error: AgileDesigner.exe: Start Error, Code Integrity check failed -> Application is terminated! 

 

 

Cause:

This error is most likely caused by a user clicking 'Debug' on any error message that occurred while launching ARD, while using ARD, or while using CodeMeter. If you do not think you clicked anything resembling 'Debug' or did not have any error messages recently, the resolution below will still be applicable. 

 

As a security measure, CodeMeter invalidates your ARD license when clicking on 'debug' because it thinks that someone is hacking into ARD. CA has discussed this issue with WibuSystems (creators of CodeMeter, the third party licensing system being used with ARD) and they will look into fixing this so it does not happen in the future. 

 

Resolution:

Unfortunately, the only resolution to this particular error is to uninstall ARD, reinstall it, and request and apply a new license for it. Directions below will take you through this process. 

 

Uninstall ARD:

1. Go to Control Panel\Programs.  
2. Under 'Programs and Features', click on the 'Uninstall a program' option. 
   
   
   
   
3. Find 'AgileDesigner'.
4. Right click on the program and choose the 'Uninstall' option.
   
   
   
   
5. In answer to 'Are you sure you want to uninstall this product?', click the 'Yes' button.
   
   
   
   
6. You should no longer see 'AgileDesigner' in the 'Programs' window.

• If you are not using the ARD installer (which is not recommended) or you do not have internet access (which is required for the prerequisites), you will need to make sure you have all the necessary prerequisites installed.

  • Windows Visual C++ 2015 Redistributable: https://www.microsoft.com/en-us/download/details.aspx?id=53587 

 

License ARD:

Follow the directions in either of these documents to request and apply a new license for ARD:

After doing all these steps you should be able to launch and use Agile Designer without error.
