  • 1.  SNMP traps are not processed in Spectrum Console

    Hi All,

I am facing a problem with Spectrum application. The SNMP traps coming from a third party integrated application is not converted in Alarms. Error screen shot below.

    Event error in spectrum

When I did some R&D using wireshark application, came to know... the traps are missing some octet string of the OIDs in the RAW traps. I am attaching an image for reference. Can anyone help me to understand, what can probably cause that.

I have highlighted the data, which could be cause of the issue.

    RAW_SNMP from source machine

     Regards,

    Hi Saju,

You will need to check on the SNMP agent installed on the device/host IP: 10.50.20.196.

    Thanks,

    Silvio

    Hi Silvio,

Yes, you were right the SNMP service on the windows machine was having issues. The reboot of the server fixed it.

    Thank You!

If wireshark is showing that you are a missing data for the various varbinds, then there is nothing for Spectrum to convert or display.  One thing that I noticed from the first screenshot, is that the severity of this trap is 0.  Even though it doesn't explicitly define 0 in your message, I may assume that this is a "clear" type message.  What we have found with many devices is that clears do not contain any extra data.  So you may want to keep monitoring this device and try to force a condition to see if there is actually data when it triggers a minor, major or critical condition.
