    Posted Apr 17, 2015 03:05 PM
Yesterday and today I have been getting this message for no apparent reason when I try to do basic tasks in Rally (in this case, creating a new feature): 0EM140000004lvK
I am not alone in this within my team. I was wondering if anyone else was having this issue, and what steps I can take to make sure that this does not continue. It is really holding up my work. Any ideas would be appreciated.

We're seeing multiple users having the same problem this morning. The standard answer is to have your users log out and back in to reset their session key, and that almost always work. I'm hoping that somebody at Rally can explain this anomaly and why we're seeing so many this morning.

Hi there, it looks like there's a new defect for this issue.  I see that you submitted a case, Chelsea -- thanks for that.  We'll get it associated to the defect so you're notified once it's fixed.

Our Engineering teams are working to correct this issue as quickly as possible!

Created a case for you Dominic.  Thanks for reporting it.

Several people in our company are reporting this issue today.  Closing out of the browser does not always fix the issue.  Please let us know when this will be fixed.

Hi all -- we believe that this issue is now resolved!  Please do let us know if you are still experiencing the issue.  Thank you for your patience and sorry for any issues this caused!

This cropped up briefly for two of our users yesterday.

I also have several users reporting this error when creating or updating artifacts.

These errors have crept back into our environment as well. Change regression is not a good thing... :(

Agreed!  :(  We're reopening that defect.  We know the root cause, it's just a matter of getting it permanently fixed!  If you haven't already submitted a case, please do (dropdown at top-right --> Cases).  Thank you for reporting it!

How is it going with the fix?  I have users that can't edit Defects or User Stories they:
    a) authored
    b) have Editor access privileges to
    c) have edited in the past

    Tim,

The "workaround" that's been suggested in the past was to have them log out and log back in, and everything should work. Something is forcing the session key for the users browser session to fail, and a logout/login will reset the key and clear the problem.

It's never been explained whether it's a false time-out, a glitch that somehow invalidates the key, or exactly why the key is becoming invalid, but in our shop, every time it happens we just log out, log back in and everything's good to go...It can be a little frustrating if you're making large edits to description fields / notes fields, but generally, it's a pretty quick fix.

Hopefully Rally is still viewing this as an open issue.  I do, because it is affecting the users I have support responsibility for.  LO/LI over and over is IMHO not a "fix," though it qualifies as a reasonable workaround while the true fix is being determined.  More on that at: Not authorized to perform action. Invalid key Error Message  Thanks for a useful board and rapid response to inquiries / concerns.

Tim, we're definitely viewing this as an open issue -- we've re-opened the defect.  You're right, LO/LI is not a fix, just a workaround for now.  Thanks for posting here!

    Still busted.

Also, the login mechanism certainly discourages collaboration.  After I log in using my Rally credentials, i have to search again to find the Q&A.  If I use the browser back button after signing in; or copy the question URL from the address bar, sign in, then paste the URL back in the address bar - the login is lost, and I can't add a comment.  Incredibly frustrating.

Bill, thanks for the feedback, and for your patience.  We're having an issue with the security certificate for the Rally Community, and had to disable the redirect to rallycommunity.rallydev.com for now.  We are working to get it fixed ASAP!

Can some amount of calories be burned on documenting any REST API workarounds? Thanks.

Thank you all for reporting this, investigation of this defect is in-progress.

Also, I do recommend that you submit a case with Support to "officially" report the issue, as this is more of a user forum.

Any cases reporting this issue are attached to the defect to increase its visibility (which is already high).

I will update this thread when the issue is resolved, but the offical Support channel is via Get Support --> Create a Case.

Same issue, it started to happen on May 26th for no apparent reason. We use Pyral to interact with Rally and did not have any problems before

Thanks John. I opened up a case asking the support team to increase its priority. This has been open for a while and is occurring more frequently. It has now started to affect our dot net batch jobs. For something that is a huge block to productivity, I would expect the issue to be urgent or critical at this point. Thanks again for following up.

Good to hear Antonio.  It sounds like we have still had reports of this in-browser this morning, so not letting up on our investigation just yet!

All, this should now be fixed but please let us know (create a new case) if you still experience the issue.

Hi Becky, that's no good!  Did you happen to create a case for this yet?

  • 32.  Re: Not authorized to perform action. Invalid key Error Message

    Posted Jul 13, 2015 10:34 AM
No I have not ... I was not sure if I should add to this existing one or create a new case?

  • 33.  Re: Not authorized to perform action. Invalid key Error Message

    Posted Jul 13, 2015 11:18 AM
Becky, just for clarification, this thread is just an open community forum post.  If  you'd like to get into contact with Rally Support directly, please Create a new case from the Get Support menu up top.

I would go ahead and create a new case (https://rallycommunity.rallydev.com/cases/new) for this one and be sure to include specifics so that we can ensure this is the same issue and not a new one with a separate cause.  Thank you!

The user is able to get it to work in Chrome without any issues. I will open a case if I have any other users report this issue to me. Thanks.
